Karina Hernandez Luna opened Little Pixies shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic and remained open as an essential childcare provider for families who needed dependable care.
That experience strengthened her commitment to creating a nurturing home environment where families feel welcomed, communication is personal, and every child receives encouragement and attention.

NM PreK Teacher
Maria Hernandez Luna is Little Pixies’ PreK teacher and a senior at the University of New Mexico, where she is working toward her bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
Maria loves working with children and has been helping Karina care for the children at Little Pixies since the center opened. She has been part of the Little Pixies story from the beginning, bringing that connection to her work with our PreK learners.

My son and daughter spent the first 3 years of their lives here at Little Pixies. If they didn’t have to start school they would still be there. They received wonderful care for many years. They started at around 7weeks old and stayed until they started school. They learned English and Spanish. They were well prepared to start school knowing their letters and counting. Great care and love comes from Mrs Karina and she is like my kids second mom.

Serving Southwest Albuquerque
Little Pixies is conveniently located near Unser Boulevard and Dennis Chavez Boulevard in the 87121 community. Our extended weekday hours help working families find care close to home.
As a provider licensed by the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD), Little Pixies participates in both Universal Child Care and community-based NM PreK.
- Free daycare for ages 6 weeks through school age through ECECD Universal Child Care
- Free NM PreK for ages 3–5; currently enrolling
- Wraparound daycare for PreK students before 7:30 AM and after 3:30 PM
- Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM

Maria Hernandez Luna es la maestra de PreK de Little Pixies y cursa su último año en la Universidad de Nuevo México, donde estudia para obtener su licenciatura en Psicología.
A Maria le encanta trabajar con niños y ha ayudado a Karina a cuidar a los pequeños de Little Pixies desde que abrió el centro. Ha sido parte de nuestra historia desde el principio y lleva ese vínculo a su trabajo con los niños de PreK.

Mi hijo y mi hija pasaron los primeros 3 años de sus vidas aquí en Little Pixies. Si no hubieran tenido que comenzar la escuela, todavía estarían allí.
